Squares and properties of Squares

When we multiply a no. With itself we say that no has been squared and product is called square of that no.
Eg
3 ×3 = 9 ( square of 3 )

The square nos. Are called perfect squares .
A natural no. Is called a perfect square or square no. If it is square of some natural no.

Properties of square nos.
1) a natural no. Having 2,3,7,8 at ones place is never a perfect square . Eg 12,23,47,68 are not perfect squares

Natural no. Having 0,1,4,5,6,9 at ones place maybor may not be a perfect square . Eg 100,121, 225, 289, 324, 256 are perfect squares
But 10,221,224 235,326,389 are not perfect squares

No. Ending with odd no of zeros is never a perfect square . Eg 40,1000 are not perfect squares

Square of an odd no. Is always odd
Eg 3 × 3 = 9 13 ×13= 169

Square of even no. Is always even no.
Eg 12 × 12 =144

Factors of square no can be grouped in pairs of equal nos.
Eg
729= ( 3×3) ×( 3 × 3) × (3 × 3 )

Square of no ending with 1 or 9 ends with 1. Eg 11 ×11 = 121 , 19×19=361

Square of no. Ending with 3 or 7 ends with 9.
Eg 13×13=169 17×17=289

Square of no. Ending with 4 or 6 ends with 6.
Eg 14 × 14 =196 16×16=256

Square of no ending with 5 ends with 5.
Eg 15× 15 = 225

Square of no.ending with 0 ends with even no. Of zeros
Eg 10×10= 100 , 20×20 = 400
