Meaning – To face the unpleasant consequences of one’s action

If you have to face the music, you have to accept the negative consequences of something you have done wrong.

Example 1

Mary broke a dining-room window and had to face the music when her father got home.

Example 3

After several years of cheating his employer, the embezzler finally had to face the music.”
